RAPAPORT... The International Gemological Institute (IGI), in conjunction with the U.S. Commerce Department’s Office of South Asia, recently hosted a group of jewelry industry insiders from Pakistan to educate them on U.S. and international business practices and gemstone and jewelry trends. The meeting included a tour of IGI's facilities.

Hinna J. Chowdhry, a delegation participant and assistant professor in the Gems & Jewelry Design Department at the Pakistan Institute of Fashion and Design, called the visit “a wonderful learning experience'' and great exposure for her group. “We have high hopes for the jewelry professionals of America and Pakistan working together in the future,” Chowdhry said.

In addition to visiting IGI, the visitors attended meetings organized by the U.S. Department of Commerce in Washington, D.C. before attending the JCK Vegas show.

IGI's president, Jerry Ehrenwald, said, “IGI is dedicated to the education and growth of the jewelry industry worldwide and as such, we were honored to have had the opportunity to work with the U.S. Department of Commerce and the professionals from Pakistan.”
