Botswana's Diamond Exports -36% in May

RAPAPORT... Botswana’s diamond exports fell 36 percent year on year to $324 million in ‎May ‎‎2012, ‎according to data released by the Bank of Botswana. During the first five ‎months ‎of the year, the ‎country’s diamond exports declined by 20 percent to $1.5 ‎billion. The bank restated its first-quarter and April data after having adjusted exports slightly higher.  ‎

The bank’s data is a representative sample of the country's full diamond trade and ‎is ‎sourced ‎from the Diamond Trading Company Botswana, Leo Schachter ‎Botswana, ‎Teemane ‎Manufacturing Co. and the Central Statistics Office.‎
