RAPAPORT... The International Institute of Diamond Grading & Research (IIDGR), a unit of De Beers, has launched a diamond grading service in the Far East, Middle East, India and Europe.

Following a pilot test in the Far East, IIDGR will now provide a grading service from each of its laboratories in Belgium, India and the U.K. The offering uses De Beers proprietary grading technology and is suitable for all sizes, colors, shapes and quality, according to a statement February 22. It will only be available for natural, untreated diamonds.

IIDGR will be presenting information on the service at the forthcoming Hong Kong International Diamond, Gem & Pearl Show from March 1 to 5.

Rapaport News reported February 9 that IIDGR will be launching its grading service in the U.K. from March 1.

“Our service aims to provide diamantaires with total peace of mind when it comes to grading,” said Jonathan Kendall, IIDGR’s president. “The innovative technology solutions developed in-house at De Beers enable us to provide an extremely accurate and consistent service and our leading capabilities in diamond verification provides customers with an additional layer of confidence.”
