RAPAPORT... Amazon.com is selling a line of lab-grown diamonds from a joint venture between an entrepreneur and famed gem-cutting firm Royal Asscher.

House of Eléonore, owned by founder Bernd Damme, Royal Asscher and other investors, will sell blue, pink, yellow and orange lab-created diamonds sourced from from various producers who use CVD and HPHT to create diamonds.

The collection, which includes lab-grown gems and untreated natural Royal Asscher diamonds, was launched June 16. Items are priced at up to $9,800 for an engagement ring. So far 60 percent of customers who have bought products from the collection bought lab-grown diamonds, said Damme, whose company is based in Amsterdam.
