RAPAPORT... The U.S. Kimberley Process Authority (USKPA) elected International Gemological Institute (IGI) president and chief executive officer Jerry Ehrenwald to its board.

The election of Ehrenwald (pictured), who has 50 years’ industry experience, comes after Gemological Science International (GSI) founder and chief executive officer Mark Gershburg stepped down as a USKPA director earlier this month to focus on his business.

The authority controls the use of Kimberley Process certificates for rough diamond exports from the U.S.

“We look forward to working with Mr. Ehrenwald and the IGI staff to fulfill this meaningful mission for the U.S. rough diamond industry,” said Martin Hochbaum, executive director and member of the USKPA board.

Following Ehrenwald’s arrival, the USKPA’s operations will be run out of the IGI’s facilities on New York’s Fifth Avenue.
