RAPAPORT... De Beers has appointed Neil Ventura as vice president of strategy and innovation, following the departure of Gareth Mostyn in October.

Ventura (pictured, left), who headed the miner’s rough auction business for the past decade, will be tasked with leveraging the company’s market insight and technologies to “rapidly” develop new business ideas, De Beers said in a statement Wednesday.

Paul Rowley (right), who is currently executive vice president of De Beers’ Global Sightholder Sales, will fill the role vacated by Ventura as head of the auction business, in addition to overseeing sightholder sales. As vice president of diamond trading, Rowley will run the two segments as separate departments.

Meanwhile, Alessandra Berridge (center) will take charge of De Beers’ commercial and partnerships function, having previously been lead legal counsel for mergers and acquisitions at De Beers’ parent company, Anglo American.

All three appointments will take effect on February 1.
