RAPAPORT... James Avery Artisan Jewelry has named John McCullough as CEO
— the first non-family member to lead the Texas-based retailer.
McCullough, who was previously chief operating officer (COO),
succeeds Chris Avery, who has been CEO since September 2007 and will
stay on as chairman.
James Avery will remain under private ownership, and will
not explore a public stock offering or a sale, the company said in a statement
Friday. Avery family members will continue to be involved in day-to-day
operations, it added, noting that Lindsey Avery Tognietti, the
granddaughter of founder James Avery, serves as manager of strategic
initiatives.
“I am dedicated to building on the strong foundation laid by
Mr. Avery, Chris, and the rest of the family,” McCullough said.
Chief financial officer Paul Zipp will take on the COO
responsibilities, while the company has also promoted Karina Dolgin to chief
product and revenue officer.
James Avery operates 91 stores in five states, and has a
further 220 retail locations at Dillard’s department stores, as well as two
airport shops. The new positions went into effect on Friday.
