Press Release: The organizing committee of the 35th World Diamond Congress announced that Susan Shabangu, the minister of mineral resources for South Africa and U.S. Ambassador Gillian Milovanovic, the chair of Kimberley Process (KP), will  present their viewpoints on key issues of concern to the participating delegates.

Their participation only underscores the importance that the World Federation of Diamond Bourses (WFDB) and the International Diamond Manufacturers Association (IDMA) attach to issues related to proposals for changes in the KP as well as broader issues such as conflict diamonds and beneficiation that have been dominant themes for discussion within the industry over the past decade or so.

The World Diamond Congress is the bi-annual general assembly of the WFDB and the IDMA. The congress will take place between October 14 and 17, 2012 in Mumbai, India. It is being held in India for the first time. The congress is being hosted by the Bharat Diamond Bourse (BDB) and the Gem & Jewellery Export Promotion Council (GJEPC).
