RAPAPORT... The Israel Diamond Exchange (IDE) will host International Diamond Week in Ramat Gan from September 1 to 4.  IDE conducted a trading week in April that attracted 452 buyers from 22 countries, according to IDE's president, Shmuel Schnitzer.

"With the help of cutting-edge technology, we knew how many buyers were in the buildings and on the trading floor at any time during the five-day event. In April, we employed a new, advanced security system that has a facial recognition program at its core. Called In Motion Identification, this computer software program will continue to uphold the highest level of security in the buildings and on the floor, while at the same time letting these measures impact as little as possible on what our members and the international buyers come to do here at the IDE: business," he said.

IDE's general manager, Moti Besser, reported that 107 of the visiting buyers were first-time visitors to the exchange and, possibly, to Israel, too. "As we have begun our work ahead of the September edition of the International Diamond Week in Israel, we are going to exert ourselves and try to bring more first-time buyers of diamonds to Israel," Besser said.
