RAPAPORT... The London Diamond Bourse’s (LDB) management council unanimously voted to create a new position of chairman for outgoing president Harry Levy.

Menachem Prager (pictured, right) will take over as president after Levy, an industry veteran of 45 years, did not stand for re-election having been in the role since 2011. Levy (left) will continue his role on the council.

Both Levy and Prager are former vice-presidents of the LDB. Levy is currently president of the Gemmological Association of Great Britain and is a past chairman of the British Jewellers’ Association (now the National Association of Jewellers).

Prager has been a member of the exchange for 36 years and has been a long-serving member of its council. He was a member of the international arbitration panel of the World Federation of Diamond Bourses.

“Mr. Prager has been an active member of the executive team for some years and I have confidence that under his presidency we will continue to grow the organization,” said Victoria McKay, the LDB’s chief operating officer. The council felt creating the chairman position was “a perfect fit to honor Mr. Levy’s ongoing commitment to LDB and the industry,” McKay added.
