Chow Tai Fook will open a store in Hawaii through a partnership with travel retailer DFS Group, a subsidiary of LVMH Moët Hennessy Louis Vuitton.

The Hong Kong-based jeweler’s branded store will launch in T Galleria by DFS, a luxury department store targeting tourists. Hawaii is a popular wedding and honeymoon destination, and jewelry is a common item for visitors to purchase, the companies explained in a statement Monday.

The 970-square-foot boutique will open in May, offering gem-set platinum and gold jewelry, as well as specific Chow Tai Fook collections and brands such as its Hearts on Fire diamond and wedding jewelry.

“We are excited to bring the first-ever Chow Tai Fook branded store to Hawaii, supported by DFS’s extensive retail expertise, in order to capture the growth potential of leisure spending in the Hawaii market,” said Kent Wong, Chow Tai Fook’s managing director.

The move follows Chow Tai Fook’s decision to open its first branded store in Japan – another attempt to secure business from tourists. The strategy comes after a sales decline in Hong Kong, where a decrease in Chinese visitors has dented the jeweler’s retail performance. Last year the retailer also opened a store in New York, its first in the US.
