RAPAPORT... The Gemological Institute of America (GIA) has appointed
Matthew Tratner global director of business development.
Tratner will be responsible for expanding
and deepening the GIA’s relationships with retailers and other stakeholders.
“Matt’s industry experience will play an invaluable role as
we work to meet the needs of the gem and jewelry industry, and further our
mission of ensuring the public trust,” Anna Martin, GIA senior vice president
of global business development and beneficiation, said Monday.
A 15-year veteran of the jewelry industry, Tratner was
previously director of membership and sales at Jewelers of America (JA) and the
publisher of National Jeweler.
He will be based in the New York office, and will report to
Martin, the GIA added.
