RAPAPORT... Royal Asscher has launched two new patented diamond cuts internationally, in honor of the brand’s 165th anniversary, it said Monday.

The Royal Asscher Oval and the Royal Asscher Cushion join the Netherlands-based jeweler’s other two cuts, the Royal Asscher Round Brilliant and the Royal Asscher.

Royal Asscher sells its diamond-jewelry collections in approximately 300 locations worldwide.

Correction, June 24, 2019: The Royal Asscher cut should not be confused with the generic Asscher cut, as reported in the original version of this story. The Royal Asscher has 74 facets and is patented, whereas the company lost the patent to the  58-facet Asscher cut during the World War 2 period. Furthermore, the company sells it collections in approximately 300 locations, rather than 150 as initially reported.
