RAPAPORT... A 5.01-carat yellow-diamond ring was the most expensive piece of jewelry purchased on eBay in 2019, selling for $65,950.

The piece, which is set on a gold band and flanked by 1-carat side stones, was one of two yellow diamonds that appeared in a list of the five priciest jewelry purchases at the e-commerce giant last year, the company said last week.

A princess-cut, 7.31-carat, light-yellow diamond and platinum ring ranked second in the jewelry category, pulling in $55,000, while a 2.52-carat Lucinda diamond engagement ring by Tiffany & Co. sold for $41,500. The fourth- and fifth-priciest jewelry items bought from the site were an 8.84-carat natural-sapphire and diamond ring, which brought in $40,000, and a 2-carat diamond solitaire engagement ring. That piece, by designer Roberto Coin, achieved $36,000.

Three timepieces cracked the top 20 overall most expensive purchases of the year. Those included two Patek Philippe Grand Complications watches, which sold for $139,500 and $125,000, and a diamond and rose-gold Rolex, which went for $100,001.

The list of top purchases, compiled from global eBay sales between January 1 and December 6, also included luxury cars, sports memorabilia, handbags, and items from the entertainment industry. The highest-priced item, a power lunch with Warren Buffett, yielded $4.6 million.
