RAPAPORT... The board of the Israel Diamond Institute (IDI) has elected Arnon Juwal as its third chairman in three years.

The IDI, which works to promote the country’s diamond sector, tapped Juwal to serve a three-year term following Yoram Dvash’s resignation last week, it said Tuesday. Dvash took over the role in November after Boaz Moldawsky, who started in 2019, left to head the Israel Diamond Exchange (IDE).

Juwal, a second-generation diamantaire and a partner at S. Juwal & Co., has previously held positions at the Israel Diamond Exchange (IDE), including as a member of the board of directors for the bourse’s economic arm, to which he was first elected in 2007. He has also served as vice president of the IDE and has chaired its rough-diamond committee.

“It’s a great honor to serve as chairman of the Israel Diamond Institute, as well as a major responsibility,” said Juwal. “We are emerging from a very difficult time, and although the Israeli diamond industry has rebounded, there are still many issues that we must deal with. IDI is responsible for several functions that are essential to the success of the Israeli diamond industry. I hope that my expertise as a diamantaire will enable me to contribute to the success of IDI, and I look forward to leading the institute in these crucial times.”
