Gem Diamonds has recovered a 114-carat rough from its Letšeng mine in Lesotho, its fourth stone above 100 carats in the past two months.

The company unearthed the high-quality, white, type I diamond at the deposit on July 16, Gem Diamonds said Tuesday. The discovery closely followed that of an “exceptional-quality,” 245-carat rough on June 11, a 125-carat diamond on May 31, and a high-quality, 129-carat stone on May 23.

The miner has seen a slowdown in large-stone recoveries over the past year. In 2021, it unearthed six stones over 100 carats, compared to 16 in 2020.
