RAPAPORT... Sotheby’s New York April sale will feature gems and
artifacts from jeweler Fred Leighton’s personal collection.
The event, which will take place April 18, includes jewelry priced
between $5,000 and $100,000. Furniture and decorative arts from
the 17th to 20th centuries that Leighton accumulated
in his Manhattan home will also go under the hammer, the auction house said Monday.
Leighton, who died last year aged 85, ran a successful estate-jewelry business that supplied to celebrities such as Kate Winslet, Nicole Kidman and Jennifer Lopez.
“The Jeweler’s Eye” collection will be available for public
viewing from April 13 to 18 prior to the auction.
