RAPAPORT... Saks Fifth Avenue appointed Mark Briggs to join the retailer  as its new chief marketing officer, effective March 2014. Briggs spent 20 years at Harrods as the luxury retailer's director of store image. In his new role at Saks, Briggs will report to Marigay McKee, the newly appointed president of Saks Fifth Avenue, and his direct reports will include executives within retail marketing and visual element specialties. Briggs worked with McKee at Harrods prior to her departure in November.

“Mark brings a wealth of experience in luxury brand management with a proven track record of creating retail magic around heritage brands.  His passion for retail theater and essential understanding of the customer will be integral to our success,” said  McKee.  “I am thrilled to welcome Mark to the Saks team, where he will play a key role on the executive committee.”

Briggs set the strategic brand vision for Harrods,  overseeing marketing, communications and visual elements. In his role, he worked closely with McKee and the merchant team to develop compelling creative campaigns to drive marketing and elevate the store’s overall image.
