Lucara Diamond Corp. has recovered a 240-carat, “top-white” rough stone from the high-value portion of its Karowe mine in Botswana, it said Monday.

The diamond is the second weighing more than 100 carats the company has found this year, after it unearthed a 127-carat stone earlier this month. Lucara will put both diamonds up for tender in March, along with other large stones it has found at the mine.

The 240-carat stone was from the M/PK(S) unit in the south lobe of Karowe,

Since mining began at Karowe in 2012, the company has recovered a total of 54 diamonds weighing more than 200 carats.
