RAPAPORT... The Gem & Jewellery Export Promotion Council (GJEPC) has embarked on a campaign targeting the ‎overseas markets to create awareness about India International Jewellery Show (IIJS) and ‎India International Jewellery Week (IIJW), which take place in August this year.

The council has scheduled roadshows between May 23 and June 20, 2012 in Malaysia, ‎Singapore, Jeddah, Riyadh, South Korea and China and seeks to invite local jewelers from these ‎countries to view production capabilities and India’s expertise in jewelry manufacturing.

‎“We see a huge potential of business associations being formed with these countries and ‎hence the attempt to visit these countries and present to them the myriad possibilities that ‎India presents as a global destination for design and sourcing of jewelry,” said Rajiv Jain, ‎GJEPC’s chairman. “We hope this attempt will see a manifold increase in the amount of ‎delegations participating from these countries.”

GJEPC stated that IIJS is Asia’s second largest business-to-business (B2B) event to transact deals, having registered a 24 percent year on year increase in visitor registration in 2011 with more than ‎‎33,000 trade visitors participating in the show from India and abroad.

The council added that it is offering an incentive in the form of a hospitality package to ‎participating delegations from these countries to promote greater participation. GJEPC is an ‎apex body for the gems and jewelry industry in India, representing 5,300 members.‎
