RAPAPORT... The MJSA Education Foundation awarded nearly $6,000 in scholarships to four students who are pursuing degrees related to jewelry making and design. The 2013 scholarship winners are: • Melis Agabigum of Ann Arbor, Michigan, received a $2,450 scholarship in working toward her MFA in metalsmithing/jewelry and intermedia (integrated/mixed mediums and installation) at the University of Wisconsin–Milwaukee. She is scheduled to graduate in 2016. • William Yang, who also received a $2,450 scholarship, is completing a BFA in jewelry at the Pratt Institute in New York City and is due to graduate in 2014. • Carly Cook of Portland, Maine, who received a $500 scholarship, will complete her certificate studies in May 2014 at the Lorenzo de’ Medici Italian International Institute in Florence, Italy, where she is pursuing a Jewelry Art and Design Professional certificate. • Ryan Tosh of Valparaiso, Indiana, who received a $500 scholarship, is scheduled to earn his BFA in Fine Arts from Purdue University next May. Since 1997, the MJSA Education Foundation has awarded over $170,000 in scholarships to students enrolled in jewelry design, jewelry making or other jewelry-related degree programs at colleges, universities and technical schools throughout the U.S.
