RAPAPORT... UBM Asia's Taiwan Branch reported that 6,362 buyers from 31 countries attended its first Taiwan Jewellery & Gem Fair this past week, which was co-organized with the Taiwan Jewelry Industry Association and Taipei Jewelers' Association.

The Taiwan Jewellery & Gem Fair  was also the first  business-to-business (B2B) jewelry trade show in Taiwan and it offered exhibition space of 3,100 square meters at the Taipei World Trade Center Hall 3. In all, 210 exhibitors from 18 countries and regions were present to show loose stones,  jewelry and new designs.Taiwan

Raymond Wu, the CEO of W&W Co. Inc., said, "For the past 20 years, Taiwan has always had jewelry shows, but there has not been such a professional and international show like this. Therefore, Taiwan's jewelry traders have been longing for this show. It has made a historic mark in Taiwan jewelry industry. Overall, the fair is well planned and professionally organized. We will definitely exhibit next year and would like to have a corner booth with bigger space."

Vivian Wang, the director of the Gemological Institute of America (GIA), added,  "The quality of the show is fantastic. For GIA, we have not participated in any jewelry shows in Taiwan for a long time. We decided to participate in this show because it is organized by UBM Asia. The results are great, and the quality of seminars is very good as well. The show is able to bring positive energy to the Taiwan jewelry industry."

The Taipei Jewellery Association noted that its members were pleased  with the fair as it eliminated the need to travel abroad to buy or trade in goods.

Organizers plan to host the Taiwan Jewellery & Gem Fair 2014 in one year from November 20 to 23, 2014 at Taipei World Trade Center.
