U.S. Jewelry Store Sales +1% in January

RAPAPORT... U.S. specialty jewelry store sales rose 1.2 percent year on year to $1.8 billion in January, according to the U.S. Census Bureau. The increase compares with the 6.3-percent jump in jewelry sales across all retail outlets that month.

The news comes after specialty jewelry store sales in 2015 as a whole dipped 0.1 percent to $30.54 billion.

Adjusted for seasonality, jewelry store sales in January increased 4.2 percent to $2.57 billion.
