RAPAPORT... The Gemological Institute of America (GIA) has appointed Jeffrey Post and Tammy Storino as governors to its board, to help steer the organization’s mission and strategic initiatives.

Post, a research geologist at the Smithsonian National Museum of Natural History, is also the curator-in-charge for the museum’s National Gem and Mineral Collection, the GIA said Tuesday. He has served as chairman of the department of mineral sciences and as lead curator for the renovation of the geology, gems and minerals exhibit.

Storino is a finance and operations executive with experience in global brands. She has worked for Walt Disney, St. John Knits International and Too Faced Cosmetics.

“Their expertise will be an invaluable asset to GIA’s consumer-protection mission, helping to ensure that the institute remains a leader in research and innovation while delivering excellence in education and laboratory services,” said GIA president Susan Jacques.

Thomas Yang, managing director and partner at executive-onboarding company PrimeGenesis, will leave the board after completing a nine-year term.
