Sotheby’s and Christie’s will open “pop-up” exhibitions in Monaco during the summer that will offer clients an assortment of luxury goods.

The new private sales gallery from Sotheby’s — its first in Europe — will be open from July until October, featuring a constantly rotating assortment of items, the company said last week. Art will be the main focus, appearing alongside other luxury pieces, including watches, handbags, and jewelry by British designer Glenn Spiro.

The temporary space follows the opening of successful galleries in Palm Beach, Florida, and East Hampton, New York, Sotheby’s noted.

“Sotheby’s private sales reached an all-time high last year, and as we continue to expand this area of our business, pop-up galleries have become an important and really popular component of our approach,” said Martin Klosterfelde, senior director of international private sales at Sotheby’s. “The launch of our Monaco space marks the next evolution in our strategy to meet collectors wherever they are.”

Meanwhile, Christie’s will hold its showcase in Monte Carlo from July 3 to 18. It will feature pieces by artists such as Picasso and Banksy, as well as precious jewels, including a turquoise, emerald and diamond Serpenti bracelet-watch by Bulgari. A colored-sapphire, emerald and diamond earring and necklace set by Bulgari and a pair of natural pearl and diamond tassel earrings by Bhagat will also be up for grabs.
