RAPAPORT... Bonhams has appointed Stewart Young as director of jewelry and head of Asia for the category.

Young has more than 10 years of experience in the auction industry, having previously held the position of deputy director and specialist at Sotheby’s, as well as of director of jewelry at Tiancheng International Auctioneer in Hong Kong. He also worked as an independent jewelry designer, Bonhams said Monday.

At Bonhams, Young will be responsible for procuring and selling jewelry, and managing the department’s strategies and operations. He will also liaise with the auction house’s global jewelry team on the promotion of all sales.

Initially, Young, who will be based in Hong, will work with Leslie Roskind, before she leaves her post as head of the Hong Kong jewelry department to take on a new role in the summer with Bonhams New York.

“[Young] has a passion for the jewelry business, and his leadership experience, combined with an in-depth knowledge of current trends, will bring added strength in driving growth to this significant market,” said Jean Ghika, global head of jewelry for Bonhams.
