(Rapaport...June 12, 2000) Wow, what a great show! Nearly everybody reported a very successful JCK-Vegas show with very strong demand from independent retail jewelers. Apparently, the recent drop in the stock market has not turned jewelers or consumers off to jewelry and the trade is expecting a very strong holiday season.
Traffic at the show was very strong and while the emphasis was on making new contacts and connections - as it has been for all shows - the vendors that had appointments were busy writing firm orders.
Demand was very strong for all types of diamond jewelry especially in lower price points. Loose diamonds - Certs - also extremely well with incredible demand for 5/4 through 4 carat sizes. In general D-F colors are extremely hot. AGS-O's and other excellent cuts also did very well. More show coverage to follow next week and check out News at diamonds.net.
