RAPAPORT... Kennady Diamonds has appointed Rory Moore as its president
and chief executive officer, effective May 1. Moore is a former CEO of Mineral
Services Group of Companies and Canabrava Diamond Corp.
He replaces Patrick Evans, who has led the diamond exploration company since
its incorporation in 2012 and remains president and CEO of Kennady Diamonds’
parent company, Mountain Province Diamonds. The appointment comes as Kennady
Diamonds’ exploration project in Canada has advanced to the stage that it
requires a dedicated CEO, the company said.
The appointment enables Evans to focus on Mountain
Province’s joint project with De Beers to develop the Gahcho Kué diamond mine,
which the former has tipped as potentially one of Canada’s major high-grade
diamond sources.
Kennady Diamonds’ aim is to identify a resource along the
Kelvin-Faraday kimberlite corridor in Canada.
“At a time when most believed that the Kennady North project
had few prospects, Patrick assembled a team to resume exploration at Kennady
which has resulted in the discovery of four kimberlite pipes within the
Kelvin-Faraday corridor,” said Jonathan Comerford, chairman of Kennady
Diamonds.
“The methodical advancement of the project has brought
Kennady to an advanced stage that requires the time and attention of a dedicated
CEO.”
