RAPAPORT... HRD Antwerp rebranded its grading certificates as Diamond Grading and Jewelry Reports because of the legal connotations of the term ‘certificate’ and to comply with common global terminology.

The new-look reports – previously the Natural Diamond Certificate – will hit the market October 3.

“’Certificate’ in Anglo-Saxon countries has a specific connotation,” HRD’s chief executive officer Peter Macken said at its launch at the Hong Kong Jewellery & Gem Fair Wednesday.

The new documents also feature durable and tear-proof paper and security features such as a UV print, micro-line structures, micro-text and a hologram.

HRD’s grading methodology is unchanged and the older-version reports remain valid and credible, Macken added in a separate statement.
