RAPAPORT... James Allen has become the exclusive online retailer of
CanadaMark diamonds, following a deal between the e-commerce site’s owner and
Canada-based miner Dominion Diamond Corporation.
All diamonds listed on James Allen under the Dominion-owned CanadaMark
brand carry a certificate of origin and a unique serial number, the retailer
said. The stones are tracked from the mine to the polished stage through independent,
audited processes and come from Dominion’s Ekati mine or from the Diavik
deposit, which it co-owns with Rio Tinto. Both are located in Canada’s
Northwest Territories.
“We are excited to partner with Dominion, continuing on our
path of transforming the diamond industry by giving consumers a better
diamond-buying experience — in this case, full transparency of their diamond’s
journey from the mine to their or their loved one’s finger,” Oded Edelman,
co-founder and CEO of James Allen owner R2Net, said last week.
James Allen claims to be the world’s fastest-growing online
retailer of engagement rings and loose diamonds, all of which it says are
ethically sourced. The site also allows consumers to design their own rings and
offers a virtual showroom experience using 360-degree display technology. |
