RAPAPORT... The Gemological Institute of America (GIA) has appointed three new members to its board of governors, the organization announced last week.

The new additions are Karen Evans, national director of the US Cyber Challenge (USCC) initiative and a partner at management consulting firm KE&T Partners; Lawrence Ma, founding president of the Diamond Federation of Hong Kong and chief executive of Lee Heng Diamond Group (pictured); and Robert Andrew Johnson, CEO of retailer Diamond Cellar Holdings.

The three are replacing departing members John Green, CEO of US retailer Lux Bond & Green; James Shinehouse, managing partner at Atlantic Financial Advisory Partners; and Ephraim Zion, managing director of Hong Kong-based jeweler Dehres.

“Karen Evans, Lawrence Ma and Andy Johnson bring expertise, insight and deep knowledge in areas that are vital to continued success in today’s dynamic global market,” said GIA president Susan Jacques.
