RAPAPORT... Christie's Paris Jewels sale achieved $4,429,437 (EUR 3,305,550) on November 24 and was 74 percent sold by lot. Bidding was very strong for signed pieces, especially for three bracelets by René Boivin and Suzanne Belperron. Christie's observed a record price for a bracelet by Suzanne Belperron at $330,980 (EUR 247,000), which featured tourmalines, emeralds, péridots, béryls and color sapphires and sold for more than twice the presale estimate.

An emerald and amethyst bracelet by Rene Boivin fetched $245,756 (EUR 183,400), which was well above the EUR 150,000 high estimate. A 5.24-carat, D, VS1 diamond ring sold within its estimate range at $242,540 (EUR 181,000) and another  ring, featuring a 6.03-carat, E, VVS1 marquise-cut diamond sold for just above its estimate at $162,140 (EUR 121,000).

Marie-Laurence Tixier, the director of Paris Jewels for Christie's, explained that signed jewelry and vintage pieces were very popular and that the strong results reflected a high demand for quality stones.
