RAPAPORT... The National Retail Federation (NRF) determined that with a ''plethora of budgetary concerns'' on the minds of most U.S. consumers, there would be no real change in spending for the upcoming Easter holiday. In a survey conducted for the NRF by BIGinsight, the average shopper will spend about $145 on gifts, apparel and food for Easter, the same amount spent in 2012.

The survey found that much of the average consumer budget will  cover food for a family brunch or dinner. Since Easter falls on March 31 this year, it will be just in time to spruce up the wardrobe for springtime and 48 percent of respondents expected to make new clothing purchases, according to the survey. Nine in 10 shoppers expected to splurge on candy. Most of those who celebrate Easter, or 63 percent of the survey's respondents, plan to shop at discount stores and 41 percent will shop at their favorite department store.
