RAPAPORT... The World Diamond Council (WDC) will hold its 13th annual general meeting in Dubai, the organization said Wednesday.

The AGM will feature discussions of industry recommendations for the Kimberley Process Certification Scheme (KPCS) review cycle, as well as the proposed renewal of the WDC system of warranties, a voluntary system of self-regulation for industry members.

The summit, open to paid WDC members and invited guests, will take place from October 15 to 17, hosted by the Dubai Multi Commodities Centre (DMCC). The WDC board of directors will hold meetings on October 15, with Ahmed Bin Sulayem, executive chairman of the DMCC, giving a keynote speech on October 16.

“The WDC is going forward with its strategic plan aimed at enhancing the KPCS and encouraging diamond industry self-regulation to increase supply-chain transparency,” said Stéphane Fischler, acting president of the WDC (pictured).

“I am confident that our collaborative efforts will contribute to the further development of diamond-industry integrity and strengthen consumer confidence in the diamond value chain,” he added.
