RAPAPORT...
Sotheby’s will sell five natural-diamond pendants created for De Beers’ new ReSet Collective project, with the proceeds going to charity, the auction house said Wednesday.

Five jewelry designers created the pieces using natural diamonds from De Beers mines as part of the first collaboration in the ReSet series. Sotheby’s will offer the items at its online London Fine Jewels sale, which runs next month. The goal of the De Beers project is to celebrate sustainability in the sector and highlight the positive impact of natural diamonds on the areas in which they are mined.

The five designers — Jade Trau, Jennie Kwon, Julez Bryant, Sara Weinstock and Zoë Chicco — visited De Beers’ Botswana operations late last year, and produced pendants inspired by the area, people and wildlife they encountered. Model Indira Scott will wear the pendants as the face of the miner’s campaign, with each piece carrying a presale price estimate of $20,000 to $25,000.

Bidding for the sale will take place between December 10 and 17, with earnings from the auction benefiting Stepping Stones International, which aids vulnerable children and youth in Botswana, and the NAACP Legal Defense Fund in the US.
