RAPAPORT... The head of Alrosa’s American operations has resigned as president and board member at Diamonds Do Good (DDG) amid the continued war between Russia and Ukraine.

Rebecca Foerster, who is president of Alrosa USA, has agreed to stand down from her DDG roles immediately, the nonprofit organization said Monday. Anna Martin, DDG’s previous president, will succeed her.

Alrosa was one of many Russian companies the US targeted with sanctions following the invasion of Ukraine last month.

The DDG board said it was grateful to Foerster for her commitment to the organization and its beneficiaries and for “always putting its mission first.”

“I look forward to continuing the good work of Diamonds Do Good, which has never been more important than it is today,” Martin added.

DDG, formerly the Diamond Empowerment Fund (DEF), was founded in 2007 to develop diamond communities and generate positive stories about the industry.

“Alrosa’s approach towards responsible business practices is unchanging, and the company is fully committed [to] continue operating in accordance with the highest industry standards,” a spokeperson for the Russian miner said. “Therefore, Alrosa stays dedicated to the values of [DDG] and will continue supporting the organization in the future.”
