RAPAPORT... U.S. trade
association Jewelers of America (JA) has introduced a “consumer-facing” website
with expanded educational tools to improve confidence among potential buyers.
New features are designed to showcase the trade body’s retail
and supplier members to potential customers browsing the internet to make
purchases, as well as impart knowledge about jewelry, JA said in a statement
December 14.
The new online presence includes a gallery
showing a range of members’ jewelry which buyers can share via email or social
media; a find-a-jeweler directory to help drive traffic into stores; company
profiles of JA members; and promotion of suppliers in expanded sections titled
‘education and jewelry care,’ ‘engagement and wedding,’ and ‘gifts and trends.’
The site also introduces visitors to the trade body’s members
and educates them about the JA’s Code of Professional Practices.
It also contains a new ‘supplier showcase’ for retailers to
browse, and offers education, business tips and advocacy news aimed at the
jewelry industry. Member-exclusive content includes the JA’s responsible
diamond and gold guidance.
