Press Release: The organizers of the U.S. / International Diamond Week, to be held March 17 to 20 at the Israel Diamond Exchange (IDE) in Ramat Gan,  announced that more than 100 foreign firms have registered for participation in the event where $1 billion of polished goods will be offered for sale.

IDE's president, Yair Sahar, said he expected the number of registrants to rise further in the 10 days leading up to the event. Meanwhile, the organizers of the various rough and polished diamond tenders and a jewelry auction reported overwhelming interest.

"With the number of visiting firms already past 100, we're looking forward to an exciting and dynamic Diamond Week at the Israel Diamond Exchange," Sahar said. "I expect that the number of people flying in for this unique event will be significantly higher. After all, diamond dealers and buyers are seasoned travelers by nature and I am sure that during the coming days many more will decide that they cannot afford to miss the action here at the exchange. With $1 billion of polished diamonds being offered for sale by Israeli firms, there is a huge choice of goods on offer for our overseas friends," Sahar added.

IDE's general manager, Moti Besser, advised dealers who plan to bring goods to Israel for the event to ship them with Brink's, one of the sponsors of U.S. / International Diamond Week. However, in case they are hand carrying their goods, they must present themselves with their goods at the red channel at customs in the arrival hall of Ben Gurion Airport. "Customs have been informed about our event, and are ready to expedite services to arriving participants," Besser noted.

The organizers of rough diamond tenders and polished diamond auctions - I. Hennig/ Fusion Alternatives, Rapaport Group and eDiamond - reported strong interest in their activities. Gal Babayoff, of Tzoffey's 1818, said that about 20 exclusive buyers had already announced they will be arriving especially for the auction of hundreds of high-quality gemstones and jewelry pieces.

Buyers will be offered four free hotel nights at the Leonardo Hotel, located opposite the Ramat Gan diamond exchange complex. The complimentary hotel accommodation is being provided courtesy of the Israel Diamond Institute (IDI). Please register for the event here: http://www.reg.co.il/bourse2013/.
