RAPAPORT... A bevy of rare colored diamonds will be the stars of the upcoming Christie’s sale in New York, with a 5.38-carat, fancy-vivid-orangey-pink stone among the top items.

The cut-cornered rectangular mixed-cut, VS2-clarity diamond is estimated to bring in up to $3.2 million at the December 8 Magnificent Jewels sale, Christie’s said last week. It will be joined by a necklace featuring a cut-cornered rectangular mixed-cut, 70.19-carat, fancy-vivid-yellow, VS2-clarity diamond, which carries a high valuation of $3 million.

Two blues round out the group, including a pear modified brilliant-cut, 7-carat, fancy-blue, VS2-clarity diamond ring with a high estimate of $1.8 million. A ring set with an emerald-cut, 8.74-carat, fancy-dark-grey-blue, internally flawless diamond, flanked by triangular-shaped diamonds, is expected to fetch $1.2 million to $1.5 million.

Other notable items include a cut-cornered rectangular step-cut, 16.90-carat, D-color, internally flawless diamond ring with a high valuation of $2.2 million.

Meanwhile, a group of jewels called A Superlative Eye: Property from a Distinguished Chicago Collection will also go under the hammer. The assortment features pieces by Cartier, Graff, Jean Schlumberger, Chanel, Carvin French, and Marcus & Co. The group is highlighted by a selection of Art Deco jewels by Cartier, including an Art Deco emerald, sapphire and diamond brooch that once belonged to the wife of US composer Cole Porter. The piece will be offered alongside a Graff ring set with a cushion-shaped, 20.55-carat ruby and diamonds, which is valued at up to $1.5 million.

Before the live New York sale, Christie’s will hold an online auction from November 23 to December 7, it noted. The digital version will feature a curated selection of antique to contemporary pieces by design houses including Buccellati, Bulgari, Cartier, David Webb and Harry Winston. It will also feature 64 works by Michele della Valle, which will be offered without reserve.
