With Breast Cancer Awareness (BCA) Month approaching in
October, the astrology-themed watch and jewelry firm Seah introduces its BCA
Destiny bracelet. The pink leather double-wrap bracelet is set with steel and
gold-plated star icons to honor those who have overcome the obstacles of breast
cancer. During the month of October, 25 percent of all proceeds from sales of
the BCA Destiny bracelet will be donated to the American Cancer Society to help
promote breast cancer awareness and research.
In honor of the Olympics, designer Efva Attling has created
the Diana Collection, inspired by — and named for — the Greek Goddess of the
Hunt. The message of the collection celebrates the strength and spirit of
women. The silver Diana Collection is defined by a classic design with the
silhouette of a woman balancing inside a circle — signifying the adjustments in
life that women make on a daily basis.
Jewelry brand Yvel has officially launched the collection
designed by the students from its Andrea Bronfman School of Jewelry & Art.
The collection, entitled “Genesis,” is created by the Ethiopian students at the
school housed within the company’s design center in Jerusalem. The jewelry
produced by the students helps to fund the school, which helps Ethiopian
immigrants assimilate into the culture of Israel, while at the same time
teaching them a viable job skill. The 24-karat-gold-plated brass collection is
comfortably priced between $50 and $200. Each piece features a hidden message
inscribed in Amharic, the native language of the students. For more information
on this special project, visit www.yvel.com.
Jewelry designer, stylist, journalist and now book author Beth
Bernstein has released her first book My Charmed Life. The memoir chronicles
the life adventures of Bernstein through the jewelry that she has worn, or that has been worn by
family members, connecting her past to her present. Bernstein reveals how each
item in her jewelry box is not just a material object, but a mirror that
reveals memories that link together the family, friends and romances that
inspired the book. The book launch includes a series of events in jewelry
stores and Barnes & Noble stores.
