Congratulations to all the winners of the American Gem Trade Association’s (AGTA) 2014 Spectrum Awards™ Competition whose creations were on display during GemFair Tucson. Winners were recognized at a dinner during the GemFair. The annual competition, now in its 30th year, honors designers for outstanding use of colored gemstones in innovative, wearable creations that will generate publicity for colored gemstones through beautiful design. It also recognizes lapidary artists for their excellence and creativity in bringing out the best in colored gemstones. The competition was judged October 19 and 20 in New York City. Judges for the 2014 competition were retailer Jennifer McCurry from Marissa Collections, fashion and beauty editor Jennie Ma from The Knot, jewelry designer Barbara Heinrich from Barbara Heinrich Studio, lapidarist John Hatleberg and manufacturer Jose Hess. All entries were then on view in a photography studio located in Manhattan’s trendy West Village. Stylists and editors were invited to see the jewelry to create excitement about colored gemstones and their place in fashion.Article from the Rapaport Magazine - February 2014.
