Designer Lines

Spanish design house Carrera Y Carrera, established in Madrid in 1885, has released three new collections in its Palacios Del Sur line — Cordoba, Sevilla and Animals. Cordoba is inspired by swords and the architecture of Spanish castles. The Sevilla collection draws upon the beauty of the fountains of Madrid, with each piece featuring a faceted gold gem. Animals features sculptured nonabstract animal forms.

Kudos go from one family-owned business to another as Chopard, a family-owned business, created and crafted the IMD-Lombard Odier Global Family Business Award trophy. The honor is bestowed upon a top-performing family business that blends family and business interests while making a contribution to the community. This year’s award recipient was the Brazil-based Odebecht Group — a family business specializing in construction, engineering and petrochemicals. Karl-Friedrich Scheufele, co-president of Chopard, presented the trophy — a tree crafted from aluminum and held together between two glass plates mounted on a partially transparent base.

Seah Watches has added to its collection of astrologically based timepieces with its Destiny leather wrap bracelet. The Destiny bracelets feature steel and gold-plated icons of the Seah-designed astrological symbols on a leather strap in a choice of several colors. Two variations are available: The double wrap has icons showcasing nature’s elements of air, earth, water and fire, while a triple-wrap bracelet highlights the zodiac signs of spring/summer or fall/winter.

Fragments jewelry showroom has added Houston-based designer Katie Decker to its roster. A creative spirit from an early age, Decker doodled jewelry designs on the margins of her notebooks during her finance classes in college. Those same sketches became her first collection. She was a Rising Star at the 2010 JCK Las Vegas show and was featured as a New Designer at the JA New York show. Decker is inspired by her travels and she creates pieces that strike a balance between classic and contemporary style.
