RAPAPORT... The 17th annual Las Vegas Antique Jewelry & Watch Show, which took place at The Paris Hotel Las Vegas from June 2 to June 5, attracted a record crowd with a 38 percent year on year increase in attendance, according to organizers.

"Opening day attendance was strong. As the days passed, vibrant sales continued," stated Andrea Canady, the show's director. "We are happy to report that we surpassed last year's numbers by a wide margin."

Both Kurt Rothner from Excalibur of Beverly Hills and Chris Mulloy of Chris Mulloy in Rancho Santa Fe, California,  claimed to have had their best show  to date.

"We really feel that business is back especially if you have the right items. But we are really happiest about all the new stores that we met at the show," Rothner said.

Jeff Cohen from N Green & Sons in Chicago reported selling  merchandise in a range of  categories and price points,  including antique jewelry of $1,000 as well as an Art Deco Diamond Necklace for $80,000 and a rare Patek Philippe Chronograph 1940s watch for $45,000.

Eli Noor of Ely & Co. in Cypress, California,  stated, "We have done wonderfully at the show. We bought a lot of unique and rare items such as a fancy vivid yellow diamond, a very rare minute repeater Audemars Piguet and a collectible watch."

Robert W. Lyons of Kazanjian Bros in Beverly Hills observed an "upbeat mood" as he met with clients  from China, Europe and the Middle East. "We found considerable interest in fancy colored diamonds, selling a number of stones including an 18-carat fancy intense yellow diamond."
