Sotheby's London Jewel Auction Garners Almost $5M

RAPAPORT... Sotheby’s London fine jewels auction generated sales of $4.5 million (GBP 2.8 million), the auction house reported. The auction was 70 percent sold by lot. 

The top lot was a 1920 diamond tiara which sold for $447,817 (GBP 277,250), well above its presale high estimate of GBP 55,000. A pear-shaped, 10.10-carat diamond ring sold for $224,917 (GBP 139,250), or $22,269 per carat.
