RAPAPORT... The Women’s Jewelry Association's (WJA) New York metropolitan chapter and Greenwich Jewelers in Manhattan teamed up for ''Sparkle for a Cure,'' a fundraising initiative for breast cancer research, raising $7,000  during the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure. The two partners plan to make this effort an annual event.

''As an organization servicing women, we felt it was important to give back to a charity dedicated to fighting breast cancer, a disease that has impacted the lives of so many people around the globe,'' said WJA's metro chapter co-president, Karen Sampieri. ''Greenwich Jewelers has taken part in Race for the Cure for years and was a natural choice to partner with.''

Greenwich Jewelers' co-owner Jennifer Gandia added, ''Three years ago my aunt was diagnosed with breast cancer. I heard the story of Nancy Brinker creating Susan G. Komen for the Cure out of love for her sister and I wanted to support it.  My mother is one of four sisters, I have a sister - it just spoke to me.''
