Bonhams Jewelry Sale Fetches $8M

Bulgari Blue Diamond Sells for $3M

RAPAPORT... Bonhams London realized $7.9 million from its sale fine jewelry auction, which was 90 percent sold by value, the company reported.

The top lot, a fancy vivid-blue diamond ring by Bulgari, sold for $2.9 million or $775,000 per carat. The ring, pictured, was set as a diamond crossover ring and featured one 3.93-carat, D, VS2, pear-shape next to a 3.72-carat, SI2, fancy vivid, natural blue pear-shape diamond. 

"Bonhams was delighted to handle the sale of this magnificent ring, and the final price realized demonstrates the demand, at an international level, in pieces of this quality,'' said Bonhams' director of jewelry, Jean Ghika.

Other lots included a 7.62-carat, E, VS1 diamond by Harry Winston that sold for $415,512 or $58,500 per carat. Also, an Art Deco 1.85-carat, fancy-colored diamond ring, circa 1925, sold for double its presale estimate at $161,701.
