Press Release: Hasenfeld-Stein is extremely excited to announce the launch of the all new Hasenfeld-Stein Diamond Re-cutting Program.

“Similar to the purchase of gold jewelry, retailers have been, and we’re quite certain will continue to purchase diamonds from the general public for a long time to come,” explained the company's vice president, Hertz Hasenfeld, who initiated the new program.  “Jewelers will now be able to send us their stones above .60 points and have them re-cut into GIA 3X or AGS 000s.  We’re using our expertise to help retailers turn these diamonds into well cut, very sellable and profitable products.”

Another key benefit of this program concerns liability.  Hasenfeld-Stein will be responsible for the value of your stone if anything happens during the cutting process.

The first step of the Hasenfeld-Stein Diamond Re-Cutting Program is to assess the cutting potential of each diamond received.  Retail jewelers, and only retail jewelers (manufacturers, dealers and wholesalers are excluded) are eligible for the program.

Retailers who submit a diamond will receive an evaluation and judgment within 24-hours of receipt of the diamond, that will include the following:

--Confirmation of the specific parameters of each stone, including carat weight, color and clarity

--Confirmation that Hasenfeld-Stein will accept the submitted diamond for re-cutting (the company reserves the right to reject stones deemed too high a risk)

--Expectations for the resulting re-cut stone

The entire process is designed to be web-based and easy.  To complete the stone submission form, and get an estimate of charges, simply go to and click on the Diamond Re-cutting link (or go to  If, however, selling the diamond is preferred to re-cutting it, the jeweler can click on the Request Sale box, and Hasenfeld-Stein will consider purchasing the diamond from the retailer and if applicable, make a cash offer.

Hasenfeld-Stein, founded in 1949 by Alexander Hasenfeld, is a high-end diamond manufacturer, with cutting factories in New York and China.  While their primary business has always been and continues to be GIA Triple Excellent and AGS Triple Zero Ideal Rounds, they are renowned for their FireMark® Princess Cut Diamond, accepted industry-wide as the most perfectly cut Princess diamond in the world.  The company’s strength has not only been superior diamond cutting, but on maximizing light return.  Their XXX/000 Ideal Rounds average almost 99 percent light return, while FireMark Princess Cuts average over 98 percent.
