RAPAPORT... Authorities in Antwerp confirmed four diamond dealers were arrested this week, according to Belgium news services, following HRD's recent investigation into improper grading practices earlier this year. HRD wrapped up its internal investigation in April, which resulted in the lab cutting ties with three diamond firms and firing graders who were involved. Furthermore, the HRD's board turned over their findings to judicial authorities.

The newspaper De Standaard, reported that former HRD diamond graders were paid to prepare certificates for the dealers that  resulted in as much as a 20 percent greater value.   HLN.be news added that the police investigation is ongoing, and that authorities would only confirm the arrests without providing names or further details.

Rapaport will have more details as the story develops.

Why have no names identifying those arrested at the "illegal diamond bank" at the Israeli Diamond Exchange been reported here or in any industry press? I do hope those arrested in Antwerp have their names and companies reported by Rapaport.
