RAPAPORT... Botswana’s diamond exports fell 36 percent year on year to $324 million in May 2012, according to data released by the Bank of Botswana. During the first five months of the year, the country’s diamond exports declined by 20 percent to $1.5 billion. The bank restated its first-quarter and April data after having adjusted exports slightly higher. The bank’s data is a representative sample of the country's full diamond trade and is sourced from the Diamond Trading Company Botswana, Leo Schachter Botswana, Teemane Manufacturing Co. and the Central Statistics Office.
