RAPAPORT... The organizers of Jewellery Arabia anticipate 550 exhibitors and more than 40,000 attendees for an upcoming show at the Bahrain International Exhibition & Convention Centre in October. Additionally, the eighth annual Middle East Watches, Jewellery & Pen Awards will be held on the sidelines of Jewellery Arabia at the Ritz-Carlton Bahrain Hotel on October 16. Jewellery Arabia will run on October 16 to 19 during the hours of 4 p.m. to 10 p.m. On October 20, the show will be open from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and again from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m. Jewellery Arabia has evolved into an important exhibition in the Middle East since it launched 21 years ago, according to Fawzi Al Shehabi, the exhibition's director of sales and marketing. ''Its reputation, size and quality of exhibits and variety are unique in the region. The show is seen as an essential buying event for private collectors. We are looking forward in all confidence to yet another outstanding event.'' Organizers expect Audemars Piguet, Breguet, Chopard, Corum, Harry Winston, Hublot, Omega, Panerai, Patek Phillipe, Piaget and Vacheron Constant, as well as numerous independent luxury jewelers, to participate in this show.
